ChiroCaptures

The QuiroCaptures protocol encompasses ALL data on bats obtained from direct animal manipulation, whether in underground, aerial, hunting or migratory habitats, or directly in shelter boxes. Thus, it can aggregate data collected under a wide variety of protocols and methods.

Capture sessions may vary in duration and methodology. Examples of capture sessions could include shelter box checks, when individuals are handled to determine sex or age, or capture sessions at shelter entrances, or directly using nets and harps over ponds or water points. With this protocol, we accumulate data for all species (e.g., morphometric measurements such as weight, forearm length, or reproductive status). It is important to add a good characterization of the capture location, as well as environmental data from the sampling session.

IMPORTANT! Capture sessions must always be carried out with the relevant and necessary permits.
